QUALITY OF EVIDENCE PubMed was searched with the relevant search terms for eachof the 13 topics discussed. Most of the studies described in this article provide level II or level III evidence. MAIN MESSAGE Family physicians are increasingly involved in the care of men with prostate cancer. The 13 clinical pearls presented in this article will enhance family physicians ability to care for these patients along the disease trajectory. CONCLUSION Men with prostate cancer face unique challenges as they dealwith their disease and its treatment. Family physicians can make a substantial contribution to improving the quality of life of their prostate cancer patients by applying the information in this paper.
