A 25-year-old woman came to the office complaining of recurrent episodes of disfiguring edema around her eyes that had been going on for a year. Besides mild hypertension, well controlled with captopril, she was otherwise healthy and had no known allergies. The swelling was nonpruritic but moderately burning. Results of the rest of her physical examination were unremarkable.
