
A 32-year-old woman from the Philippines presents with an 18-month history of a slowly enlarging, red, scaly, annular plaque with numbness on her right elbow. She has already been seen by a number of physicians who have advised her to use cold or warm compresses, neither of which have had any effect. On one occasion she burned herself with a too-hot compress because she had diminished sensation over the area. She is healthy and not taking any medications.
