I am very pleased to announce that Dr Nicholas Pimlott has accepted the position of Scientific Editor of Canadian Family Physician (CFP).
Dr Pimlott has been an Associate Editor of CFP since January of 2008 and has served as Interim Co-Editor with Dr Roger Ladouceur since November.
Dr Pimlott brings us qualifications and experience that are both impressive and extremely well suited to the demands of editing one of the world’s leading journals of family medicine.
Dr Pimlott has been a lecturer, an Assistant Professor, and an Associate Professor of family and community medicine at the University of Toronto in Ontario, as well as Director of Inpatient Medicine at Women’s College Hospital. He is currently a Research Scholar in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto; Research Director in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Women’s College Hospital; and, of particular relevance, he is and has been since 1994 a practising staff physician at the Family Practice Health Centre of Women’s College Hospital.
Dr Pimlott is the author or co-author of more than 30 peer-reviewed articles published in journals including the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Dementia, the Archives of Internal Medicine, and, of course, CFP.
Dr Pimlott succeeds Dr Diane Kelsall, who left in November of 2008 to take up a position as Deputy Editor, Clinical Practice, at the Canadian Medical Association Journal. We wish Dr Kelsall all the best in this exciting and important new undertaking.
On behalf of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and of CFP, I can say that we look forward to great things with Dr Pimlott at the editorial helm. Welcome aboard, Nick!
