An 11-year-old girl presented with a solitary, slightly tender, semifirm, erythematous nodule about 1.3 cm in diameter, situated in the right submandibular area. The lesion had enlarged slowly over the past 2 months. There was no associated fever, chills, or other systemic symptoms, and no history of preceding lesions or insect bites at the site. She also had no history of travel. The patient was healthy and taking no medications. Her family history was noncontributory.
