Firstly, I have no idea if there is a FirstLink responder in our community. I went onto the link in the article and got to the Alzheimer's Society website. From there, if there is an indication that there is a FirstLink assistance in BC / West Vancouver - its pretty buried. In a 20- 30 minute consultation spending 10 minutes for a weblink is an unproductive use of time.

The Alzheimer Society is a useful resource, but I do find that when caregivers get to a group meeting there are suggestions from the participants that referrals to our local Health Support systems are tantamount to negligence if they have not previously been referred to the Ivory Tower across town which is an excellent service but not always needed.

And of course, there is the escalating lack of resources in these straitened times which the Society can't begin to address.

That being said, the concept that caregivers are not alone can be helpful.
