An important positive impact of EMRs is that on the physician's work- life balance. Sorry if I am asking the obvious but curious as to what magic Roger used/uses to "look for test results, look at x-ray scans, search for a consultant's opinion" in a paper chart without taking his eyes of the patient? If in fact he could even find them in an old paper chart. A paper chart is/was actually more disruptive to good doctor-patient communication. I was actually hoping this editorial would be more forward think...
