    A third of Canadians diabetic?

    The first line of this article claims that more than 10 million Canadians are living with diabetes. In other words, about one in three Canadians has diabetes. What?! A quick internet search led me to the Canadian Diabetes Association website which reports that 2.7 million Canadians were living with diabetes in 2010.

    No mention was made of the weight of the patient presented in this article. It may be that under certain circumstances identifiable sub- groups of Type 2 diabetics (type 1B?) may be prone to DKA. These are identified as those patients who have low or normal BMIs. I will not prescribe the SCGIs in these circumstances.
