Lots of time saying "no" as interpreted by the patient. They just go elsewhere to get what they want.
I can see why at least 30% of blood work and imaging is unnecessary. Many of the "patients" I see in a walk-n shift have a lot of demands, and ask for a lot of tests that their chiropractors, physiotherapists and naturopaths think they should have. They don't understand: a) why most are not necessary; b) why just because they call themselves doctors doesn't mean they have the same education as an MD; c) why they would have to pay for them (in B.C. chiropractors and naturopaths are not covered, but they also cannot bill extra to the patient if they do tests through medical labs. They will charge $700.00 to send these test to the US, because they get a cut, if they order tests through the Medical Labs, but patient has to pay, but the naturopath gets no cut, just like the FPs)
