Cover Image

February’s cover image, The Tree of Life, was created by Sarah Knowles as part of art therapy in her recovery from an eating disorder with the Calgary Silver Linings Foundation in Alberta. The piece symbolizes a fresh start and a bright future. The journey of an eating disorder is long and seldom straight, but recovery is possible. Patients and physicians alike face challenges in managing these complex conditions. Groups like the Silver Linings Foundation provide support for individuals and families, as well as ongoing education for health care providers. One challenge for physicians is deciding when adolescents with anorexia require hospitalization. This issue features guidance on appropriate criteria for hospital admission for these patients (page 107).
