Excellent article on doing locums. I was a "career" locum for about 13 years in Canada, Scotland, N.Ireland and England, a lot of office work, some ER and inpatient work and some seriously remote (air ambulance) work. I enjoyed it.
Two advantages to add to the list:
1. You tend to be very much appreciated and well paid when you do locums.
2. After a week or two in one place, you start hearing what the staff really think of the regular doctors. It can be an incredibly useful experience and great learning for your own practice, if you decide to set one up.Declan Fox MB MRCGP CCFP
