Cover Image

This month’s cover image, Appointment, is by Michael Antkowiak. Antkowiak paints from images found on social media, film stills, and personal photographs. His work conflates the collective with the individual experience and presents a fragmented narrative of the everyday. Antkowiak’s images of intimacy, self-reflection, and domesticity explore the construction of individual identity within a greater social context. Appointment captures a moment in the waiting room. Timely access to care is one of the most important dimensions of high-quality primary care. Advanced access is one model that has been shown to improve timely access. Research in this issue (page 641) explores the implementation of advanced access in an academic network of family medicine settings and identifies potential challenges and solutions for teaching the model to family medicine residents.
