This month’s cover image is from a series called “Mania” by Brad Necyk, a visual artist and writer researching and creating on mental illness and recovery. He recently completed a doctorate in psychiatry at the University of Alberta and was awarded the Governor General’s Gold Medal. While a visiting artist-researcher at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, he experienced his own episode of mania, which he explored through his art in this series, letting intuition and the illness drive his paintings.

L’image de la page couverture du mois fait partie d’une série appelée « Mania », produite par l’artiste visuel et écrivain Brad Necyk, qui fait de la recherche et de la création sur la maladie mentale et le rétablissement. Il a récemment obtenu un doctorat en psychiatrie de l’Université de l’Alberta, et il est récipiendaire de la Médaille d’or académique du gouverneur général. Alors qu’il était artiste-chercheur invité au Centre de toxicomanie et de santé mentale, il a vécu son propre épisode de manie, qu’il a exploré par l’art dans cette série, laissant son intuition et sa maladie inspirer ses toiles.
