Cover Image

This month’s cover image plays off the concept of brain functions being linked to structures in particular hemispheres to illustrate competing influences on how family physicians spend time in their practices. In an editorial (page 819), Dr Nicholas Pimlott reflects on the industrialization of medicine and what is lost when physicians become less connected to patients. In a commentary based on her Dr Ian McWhinney Lecture (page 821), Dr Iona Heath further explores the need to understand and appreciate both medical science and personal experiences.
