    Dear Editor,

I read happily about this published work with global information about family medicine. I confess that many times I had already searched about it and found myself frustrated because was not possible to find a trustworthy source that gathered together all the data as it is in this project.

I would like to inform you that the information about Brazil isn't completely correct. In Figure 1, my country would have begun the residency activities just in the year 2000.

Indeed, our first residencies were founded in 1976, as registered by Professor Guilherme Abath (1). Even the residency I'm currently studying has been active since 1981 (2).

It is still admirable in my opinion that all these initiatives occurred in an epoch before the Conference of Alma-Ata, without the establishment of electronic communication and in a worldwide movement. I would like to express my gratitude to those who have already passed away (3, 4).
