As a long time FP Lead (in a variety of roles), I cannot help but wonder whether the title of this column is missing one word at the end: 'down' (perhaps followed by a question mark). After years of government (federal and provincial) mismanagement of the health care system (in general) and shortsighted policies related to family medicine (in particular), I worry that FM is no longer 'in crisis' but rather is 'on life support'.
Dr. Pimlott is absolutely correct when he states that "...many of the issues of concern to readers and journal contributors over the years have not changed". Simply put change has not occurred because those who are making the policies are not listening to us.
If very real positive changes are not effected VERY soon, the future of family medicine is far from guaranteed and so the future need for the CFPC and the CFP journal is also uncertain.
