A 50-year-old healthy man presents to a family medicine clinic and mentions that he has never before had his eyes checked. He has no ocular complaints. His visual acuity is 20/20 bilaterally, with an intraocular pressure of 14 mm Hg (normal range 10 to 21 mm Hg). Cornea, pupil, and lens examination results are normal. However, fundus examination of the left eye reveals a feathery, superficial, white lesion extending from the disc margin. The macula is unchanged.
